Culture Impact

The culture here in Ames is quite different from Taiwan. For example, the environment, the food, the people, the way they live, and the way they learn and so on. The culture which shocks me so hard is the environment here in Ames.

First of all and very incredible is that when you are thirsty you just need to open any faucet you found and drink the water straight  to your stomach, the water here is incredible clean, and the people in Ames said that the water here is top ten in the whole America. On the very first time, I didn`t tried to do it, because in Taiwan I boil water before I drink it, ever since my friend show how they drink the water then I followed them as to be in their culture, and I found out that the water taste so good, it can really be guarantee that the water is sure clean.

Except of water we need food, every single people get starved, then me and my friends go the restaurant where people fill their stomach with foods. I found out that it is also quite different from what I often order in a common Chinese restaurant, for example, they got burger, fries, salad, grill chicken or pork, instead of rice and noodles, moreover, in each meal you got they have a special sides for it, and what really made me happy is that they got real lots of food in each order this is also different from Taiwan which each order only have a little food that won`t fill my stomach.

After get filled up by foods, and it`s time to play around in Ames. I have been to Reiman Garden, Frisbee Golfing, State gym, and around the campus. Inside the garden, they have a lot of LEGO sculptures, butterfly, flowers, small pond, trees, and beautiful scene. It is really kind of different from Taiwan.

Then the last part is we all need to rest, here in Ames is really quite different from other states, they only have small houses, not like in the city which have tall buildings, the highest building I saw in Ames is about four floors high, approximate to twelve meters, unlike Taiwan you often see tall buildings in the city.

 To sum up, it is really good to have experience to go around the world to see what is different, and open our eyes to learn their culture.
